Cloud Operations & Reliability Engineer – BoxCast

BoxCast, a fast-growing HD video streaming company, is seeking a Cloud Operations & Reliability Engineer to provide leadership architecting, automating and instrumenting cloud-based production environments using best practices. The right candidate embraces DevOps culture, loves automating elasticity in public clouds and is excited about building container-based platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures world-class application performance, scalability and high security
  • Ability to think systematically, see the big picture, but with strong tactical action planning and problem-solving with cutting-edge cloud technologies and  services
  • Provide guidance to product development team on design, implementation and adherence to engineering standards inclusive of best practices and proof-of-concepts including repeatable/measurable/predictable processes and automated test techniques
  • Ensures existing technology is optimally leveraged and new technology aligns with BoxCast strategic architecture and vision
  • Architecting solutions for massive scale, resiliency and  maintainability
  • Designing software-defined networks and secure data  access
  • Perform technology evaluations and provide recommendations for key infrastructure components

Required Education/Experience:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or related field.
  • 5+ years of reliability or systems engineering experience, preferably more recently based on Amazon Web Services (AWS), Linux, Docker and
  • Demonstrated experience building cloud-based applications that perform well, are scalable, and reflect high security
  • Experience working within a startup or similar environment is a plus.
  • Deep expertise in troubleshooting infrastructure issues is required

Attributes Desired:

  • Understands importance of monitoring, alerting and escalation procedures
  • Knowledge of virtualization, networking and load balancers
  • Knowledge of real-time application dashboards showing overall health of the system with trending analysis and particular focus on capacity planning and management
  • Experience in quick delivery of business value through release management and agile methodologies
  • Able to define/update managed service standards, evaluate new technology, and work with key stakeholders on continuously improving cloud services
  • A highly collaborative personality and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A self-starter with a track record of success
