AXS Operations is seeking a highly technical Systems Engineer for its 24x7x365 Operations Center. Responsibilities include: working closely with the Product Development team to build, deploy, and support custom sites and services; tier-II/III support of a highly-available Production environment; hands-on support of data center infrastructure and hardware; and implementing new systems and technologies.

Role Requirements:

  • Work closely with the Product Development team to build, deploy, and support custom sites and services.
  • Maintain an advanced level of knowledge of Microsoft Windows server operating systems, and related authentication, authorization, system security, and layered products.
  • Maintain entire Microsoft server environment supporting various versions of server operating systems.
  • Provide tier-II/III support of a 24x7x365 Production environment, which includes an on-call rotation that is responsible for addressing issues on all critical systems during extended coverage periods.
  • Build, automate, and support systems hosted in a hybrid AWS environment.
  • Automate tasks and processes with scripts and third-party tools.
  • Maintain the security standards to continue to achieve PCI compliance for the company.
  • Implement key infrastructure technologies including, but not limited to, domain services (AD, DNS, DHCP, etc.), system management tools, monitoring tools, databases, web services, server virtualization (AWS, VMWare), and integration tools.
  • Support, maintain, and improve systems documentation, policies and procedures.
  • Schedule and implement upgrades, modifications, and installations on systems.
  • Maintain core support skills, developing new skills as required.
  • Implement any application necessary for the Operations team to complete the day-to-day management of enterprise systems and applications.
  • Assist with the evaluation, recommendation, and implementation of new technologies.

Education and Experience Required:

  • BS and 1-3 years of DevOps/Systems Engineering or 4-5 years of Systems Administration experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Advanced level of knowledge in Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems (2003, 2008/R2, 2012/R2).
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) experience is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with data center infrastructure and server hardware.
  • Linux/Unix Operating Systems experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency with the following skillsets are highly desirable: web servers (eg. IIS, etc.), PowerShell scripting, cloud providers (eg. AWS, Azure, etc.), server virtualization (eg. VMWare, Hyper-V), database technologies (eg. Oracle, SQL, etc.), and Active Directory Domain Services (eg. AD, DNS, DHCP).
  • Proficiency with the following skillsets are desirable: basic knowledge of communications and network equipment (eg. router, switches), network protocols (eg. TCP/IP, SMTP, POP3, IMAP, CIFS, HTTP/HTTPS), and load balancers (eg. F5, A10).
  • Proficiency with Help Desk software, email, maintaining SLAs, and Identity Management / account provisioning are a plus.
  • Microsoft Certifications (eg. MCSA, MCSE) are a plus.
